Chicago Is a Different Search Market
Chicago has 77 community areas, and the map pack can look different in each one. The same search in River North, Logan Square, or Hyde Park can return different businesses. That’s because Google weighs distance from the person searching.
The suburbs add another layer. A contractor based in the city may want work in Evanston, Oak Park, or Naperville.
A downtown practice may only care about the Loop and West Loop. Some businesses work the whole I-94 corridor, from Chicago through Lake County and Kenosha toward Milwaukee. We set those boundaries before deciding which pages and profiles to build.
The industries differ too. Manufacturing, logistics, law and other professional services, and healthcare all search and buy in very different ways.
Competition is the other difference. Many categories include national brands with large review counts and big marketing teams. Independent businesses usually win by being more specific: clearer service pages, better neighborhood relevance, and steady reviews from real customers.
